About the position

The Physical Therapist II (PT II) at Houston Methodist is responsible for evaluating and developing therapy plans for a diverse range of diagnoses and acuities. This role involves providing education to patients and their families, collaborating with interprofessional teams, and ensuring optimal patient outcomes through adherence to safety standards. The PT II also serves as a mentor and resource for less experienced staff and participates in quality metrics and process improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients across a broad range of diagnoses and acuities to determine treatment plans.
• Develop and implement physical therapy treatment plans based on evaluation findings.
• Provide education to patients, families, and caregivers based on their learning needs.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to modify treatment plans and achieve patient-specific goals.
• Serve as a preceptor and mentor to less experienced staff and students.
• Assist in the collection of quality metrics and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
• Monitor patient progress towards treatment goals and modify plans as necessary.
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient education and procedures performed.

Requirements

• Graduate of an approved education program for Physical Therapy.
• Two years of experience as a Physical Therapist or completion of a comparable residency program.
• BLS - Basic Life Support certification (AHA).
• PT - Physical Therapist State Licensure with the Texas Board of Examiners.
