About the position

The Physical Therapist - Journey Traveler role involves nationwide travel for 13-week assignments, providing flexibility to work in various healthcare settings. The position focuses on assessing, developing, and delivering physical therapy programs to facilitate patient rehabilitation, while also educating patients and caregivers to promote independence and productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise Physical Therapy Assistants, temporary licensees, students, and support personnel as per state licensure requirements.
  • Deliver effective and efficient rehab services adhering to established care plans and timely documentation.
  • Attend and contribute to patient care and staffing conferences.
  • Make referrals to other disciplines and agencies to address comprehensive patient needs.
  • Consult with the rehabilitation team to select appropriate therapeutic regimens for patients.
  • Adapt therapy programs according to individual patient needs.
  • Promote a safe environment and eliminate fire and safety hazards.
  • Order necessary supplies and equipment, and maintain and report on equipment condition.
  • Ensure high-quality patient service in a caring atmosphere.
  • Screen, examine, and evaluate patients to establish diagnoses and treatment plans.
  • Develop treatment goals and methods in collaboration with patients and caregivers.
  • Implement physical therapy treatment plans and maintain documentation.
  • Apply therapeutic techniques including therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, and functional training.
  • Design and apply adaptive devices, training patients in their use.
  • Instruct patients in mobility activities and evaluate their progress.

Requirements

  • Valid Physical Therapy license in the state(s) of practice or proof of license and eligibility.
  • Master's degree in Physical Therapy or a related field, or a Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy with 5 years of progressively responsible experience.
  • Ability to travel and temporarily reside outside of the primary home.
  • Evaluation of foreign Physical Therapy degrees to ensure U.S. equivalency.
