About the position

The Physical Therapist at Amergis is responsible for conducting patient evaluations and providing therapy services in accordance with individualized care plans and physician orders. This role involves collaboration with healthcare teams to assess patient needs, develop treatment plans, and ensure effective rehabilitation outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform initial comprehensive assessments and reassessments of patients.
  • Collaborate with physicians and healthcare team members to develop and modify the plan of care.
  • Assess therapeutic and rehabilitative needs, including muscle strength and mobility.
  • Manage incision lines post-orthopedic surgery by removing staples or sutures.
  • Establish and implement physical therapy treatment plans.
  • Instruct patients and caregivers on the use of therapeutic appliances.
  • Determine priority needs for physical therapy services.
  • Report patient reactions to treatment and changes in condition to the physician.
  • Initiate physical therapy programs and explain goals to patients and families.
  • Train patients in the use of prosthetic and assistive devices.
  • Ensure equipment used in treatment is maintained and in good working order.
  • Prepare and submit clinical and progress summaries based on patient goals and responses to treatment.
  • Participate in discharge planning and peer consultation processes.
  • Supervise Physical Therapy Assistants according to company policies and state regulations.
  • Provide accurate and timely documentation in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal laws regarding professional standards.

Requirements

  • Current licensure as a Physical Therapist in the state of practice.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Physical Therapy.
  • One year of prior professional Physical Therapy experience preferred.
  • Compliance with relevant professional standards of practice.
  • Participation in Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
  • Current CPR certification if applicable.
  • TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable.
  • Current Health certificate as per contract or state regulation.
  • Meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site.
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency in English.
  • Computer proficiency.
