About the position

The Physical Therapist (PT) at Select Specialty Hospital is responsible for providing high-quality care to critically ill or post-ICU patients who require extended hospital care. This role involves assessing patients, developing treatment plans, and working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to promote healing and recovery in a compassionate environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients and their families in coping with the unpredictability of illness within the hospital environment.
• Perform initial and ongoing systematic patient assessments.
• Promote continuous quality improvement.
• Teach and counsel patients and families.
• Set goals and develop treatment plans.
• Work cooperatively to identify and solve patient-specific and facility-wide needs.
• Participate in discharge planning for each patient, including placement, patient/family education, and adaptive equipment.
• Supervise Physical Therapy Assistants and PT and PTA students.
• Conduct individual patient therapy regimens.
• Monitor patient's response to treatment and modify treatment during sessions as needed.
• Complete appropriate documentation according to department policies and procedures.
• Participate in departmental, hospital, and community continuing education seminars and in-services.

Requirements

• Successful completion of all educational requirements for state licensure or eligibility for a license in Physical Therapy.
• Current State licensure (or eligibility for State licensure) required.
• Possess a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by start date.

Nice-to-haves

• Some supervisory experience is preferred.
