About the position

The position involves providing direct access evaluation for acute musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions in an outpatient setting. The role requires ordering and interpreting appropriate radiographs and laboratory tests, as well as developing evaluations, treatment plans, and recommendations regarding fitness for duty in current Air Force Specialty Codes (AFSC) for individuals transitioning out of the military or to another specialty. Additionally, the position serves as a consultant in physical therapy for other healthcare professionals within the military healthcare system and involves monitoring access to care while adjusting clinic therapy schedules and templates.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct access evaluation for acute musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions in an outpatient setting.
  • Order and interpret appropriate radiographs and laboratory tests.
  • Develop appropriate evaluation, treatment, and recommendations regarding fitness for duty in current Air Force Specialty Codes (AFSC) for transitioning out of the military or transitioning to another specialty.
  • Serve as consultant in physical therapy for other healthcare professionals in the military healthcare system.
  • Monitor access to care and adjust clinic therapy schedules and templates.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • Moderate to heavy lifting up to 50 pounds may be required.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
  • Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
