About the position

The Physical Therapy Assistant will work closely with licensed physical therapists to provide rehabilitative services to patients suffering from illnesses, injuries, or disabilities. This role involves assisting in the implementation of treatment plans, conducting exercises, and monitoring patients' progress towards their recovery goals, requiring strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with physical therapy team to develop individualized treatment plans for patients.
  • Assist in implementing therapeutic exercises, stretching routines, and manual therapy techniques as per the treatment plan.
  • Observe and evaluate patients' progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
  • Provide education and guidance to patients and their families on therapeutic exercises and home care.
  • Administer modalities such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and heat/cold packs under the supervision of a physical therapist.
  • Document patient treatment sessions accurately and maintain updated records.
  • Monitor and record patients' vital signs during therapy sessions.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and organized therapy area, preparing required equipment and supplies.
  • Comply with all relevant ethical, legal, and professional standards in the provision of care.
  • Stay updated on advancements in physical therapy techniques and participate in continuing education opportunities.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Physical Therapy Assistant program from an accredited institution.
  • Valid state licensure or certification as a Physical Therapy Assistant.
  • Strong understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and therapeutic interventions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity required to assist with lifting, transferring, and positioning patients.
  • Knowledge of relevant healthcare regulations and patient privacy laws.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Compassionate and empathetic nature towards patients' needs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience working in a clinical or healthcare setting is preferred.

Benefits

  • Contract position with a pay rate of $42 an hour.
