About the position

At Helen DeVos Children's Hospital, we are dedicated to providing focused attention and the latest treatments and support for children with serious health issues. As a Physical Therapist Assistant, you will assist physical therapists in implementing established treatment plans, progressing patients through therapeutic plans, and documenting treatments under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist. Your role will involve collaborating with the treatment team, communicating with families, and participating in various non-patient care activities to enhance your professional development and contribute to the hospital's mission of replacing fear with hope for every child.

Responsibilities

• Implement treatment and discharge plans under the supervision of a physical therapist.
• Collaborate with the physical therapist in determining treatment methods and assist with re-evaluating and updating treatment plans.
• Instruct and train family members or significant others regarding treatment.
• Document patient treatment according to applicable laws, rules, regulations, and professional standards.
• Maintain communication with the treatment team, including the supervising physical therapist, for goal setting and treatment planning.
• Participate in non-patient care activities such as educational events, community outreach, and staff meetings.
• Maintain and improve competence through self-study and continuing education programs.
• Assist in determining equipment and supply needs and document monthly meetings with the mentoring physical therapist.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant Program.
• LIC-Physical Therapist Assistant - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required.
• CRT-At least one Certification from preferred list - UNKNOWN Unknown Upon Hire required.
• CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association Upon Hire required or CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross Upon Hire required.
