About the position

The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) position at Buckeye Forest at Greenville is a per diem role focused on providing rehabilitation services under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. The PTA will assist in implementing treatment plans to enhance patients' physical mobility, strength, and overall functional abilities, while also ensuring effective communication with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary care team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with Treatment Plans by following the physical therapist's established treatment plans and carrying out rehabilitation exercises.
  • Assist patients with exercises, stretching, and the use of therapeutic equipment as prescribed by the physical therapist.
  • Monitor Patient Progress by observing and evaluating patients during therapy sessions and reporting changes to the supervising physical therapist.
  • Document and Report patients' progress, treatment sessions, and outcomes in accordance with facility policies and regulatory guidelines.
  • Educate patients and their families on performing exercises at home and the safe use of assistive devices.
  • Ensure patient safety by following facility protocols and safety guidelines during therapy sessions.
  • Collaborate with the physical therapist, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care.

Requirements

  • Associates degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
  • Current and active Physical Therapist Assistant license.
  • Strong understanding of physical therapy principles, techniques, and equipment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in documenting patient care activities in electronic health record (EHR) systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience in a healthcare, long-term care, or rehabilitation setting is preferred but not required.
