About the position

The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) position at Buckeye Forest at Piqua is a per diem role focused on providing rehabilitation services under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. The PTA will assist in implementing treatment plans to enhance patients' physical mobility, strength, and overall functional abilities, while collaborating with the interdisciplinary care team to achieve therapy goals.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with Treatment Plans by following the physical therapist's established treatment plans and carrying out rehabilitation exercises.
  • Monitor Patient Progress by observing and evaluating patients during therapy sessions and reporting changes to the supervising physical therapist.
  • Documentation and Reporting of patients' progress and treatment sessions in accordance with facility policies.
  • Patient and Family Education on performing exercises at home and the safe use of assistive devices.
  • Ensure Safety and Compliance by following facility protocols and safety guidelines during therapy sessions.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork with the physical therapist and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care.

Requirements

  • Associates degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
  • Current and active Physical Therapist Assistant license.
  • Strong understanding of physical therapy principles, techniques, and equipment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in documenting patient care activities in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience in a healthcare, long-term care, or rehabilitation setting is preferred but not required.
