About the position

The Physical Therapist Assistant at Excel Physical Therapy plays a crucial role in supporting licensed Physical Therapists in delivering high-quality care to patients. This position involves collaborating on treatment plans, assisting patients with therapeutic exercises, and ensuring a supportive and organized treatment environment. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with licensed Physical Therapists to develop individualized treatment plans based on patient assessments, medical records, and goals.
  • Assist patients in performing therapeutic exercises, stretches, and activities to improve strength, mobility, flexibility, and overall function.
  • Educate patients on proper techniques, postures, and exercises to optimize their recovery and prevent further injury.
  • Monitor and document patient progress, including range of motion, vital signs, and pain levels, and communicate updates to the Physical Therapist.
  • Administer modalities such as heat, cold, electrical stimulation, ultrasound, or traction under the direction of the Physical Therapist.
  • Guide and supervise patients in the use of therapeutic equipment and devices, ensuring correct form and technique.
  • Provide hands-on assistance and support to patients during therapeutic activities, promoting proper body mechanics and preventing falls or accidents.
  • Maintain a clean and organized treatment area, ensuring that equipment and supplies are readily available for therapy sessions.
  • Assist in scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and performing other administrative tasks as necessary.
  • Adhere to ethical and legal standards, maintaining patient confidentiality and following HIPAA regulations.
  • Stay updated with industry advancements and new treatment techniques through continuing education and professional development.

Requirements

  • A graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
  • Licensed or certified as a Physical Therapy Assistant.
  • Experienced in an outpatient physical therapy setting (preferred).
  • Knowledgeable in anatomy, physiology, and common musculoskeletal conditions.
  • Familiar with therapeutic exercises, modalities, and equipment used in outpatient rehabilitation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to establish rapport with patients, colleagues, and healthcare professionals.
  • Strong observational and problem-solving abilities to assess patient progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to assist patients in performing exercises and manipulate therapeutic equipment.
  • Proficient computer skills to document patient progress and access electronic medical records.
  • Committed to patient-centered care, empathy, and compassion.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in neurology, orthopedics, physical & rehabilitation medicine, or sports medicine.
