About the position

The Physical Therapy Core Faculty Director of Clinical Education (DCE) at Southern California University of Health Sciences is responsible for overseeing clinical education within the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. This role involves maintaining contracts with clinical partners, collaborating with the Program Director on program development, and ensuring quality clinical experiences for students. The DCE also engages in teaching, service, scholarship, and professional responsibilities, contributing to the academic and professional growth of the program and its students.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain and maintain contracts with clinical partners including hospitals and outpatient clinics.
  • Collaborate with the Program Director to assist in the development of the DPT program.
  • Teach courses as agreed upon with the DPT Program Director.
  • Develop and review course syllabi and materials, integrating online resources.
  • Supervise and coordinate course adjuncts and maintain regular virtual office hours.
  • Participate in course assessment and evaluation, updating content and teaching methods as needed.
  • Engage in scholarly activities and keep abreast of new knowledge in the field.
  • Contribute to department and university governance through active involvement.
  • Support co-curricular activities and participate in faculty forums or workshops.

Requirements

  • Earned Doctor of Physical Therapy degree (or tDPT) or an academic doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, DSc, etc.) from an accredited university.
  • Active, unrestricted license as a Physical Therapist in California or the state of residence.
  • Experience consistent with University System for Faculty Rank.
  • Knowledge of legislative, regulatory, legal, and practice issues affecting clinical education.
  • Ability to teach classes scheduled during days, evenings, and weekends.

Nice-to-haves

  • Specialist Certification in a discipline appropriate for teaching responsibilities.
