About the position

This position supports the General Surgery service line in a hospital setting, primarily focusing on first assisting in the operating room (OR), conducting floor and emergency room consultations, managing admissions and discharges, rounding, performing bedside procedures, and responding to Level One Trauma alerts. The role includes on-call coverage and supports other surgical services as needed. It is essential for providing 24/7 inpatient care and requires collaboration with attending surgeons to assess patients and determine care plans.

Responsibilities

• Support the General Surgery service line in the hospital setting.
• Assist in the operating room as a first assistant.
• Conduct floor and ER consultations.
• Manage patient admissions and discharges.
• Perform rounding and bedside procedures.
• Respond to Level One Trauma alerts as support.
• Provide on-call coverage for surgical services.
• Collaborate with attending surgeons on patient care decisions.

Requirements

• Graduate of an AMA approved Physician Assistant Program or a baccalaureate or higher degree program that meets licensure requirements in the State of employment.
• National Certification in State of employment or in another State with reciprocity and licensure to practice in the State of employment.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
