About the position

The Physician Assistant Faculty and Chair of Admissions at South University is responsible for facilitating meaningful learning experiences in the Physician Assistant program while overseeing all admissions processes. This role combines teaching responsibilities with administrative duties, ensuring that the program meets accreditation standards and fosters a culture of learning and professional development. The position also includes significant involvement in curriculum development, student evaluations, and community engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Chair of the Program's Admissions Committee, scheduling and leading meetings.
  • Direct all admissions academic processes, including oversight of the annual admissions cycle.
  • Provide analyses of the program's admissions processes, including an annual admissions report.
  • Coordinate and serve as faculty advisor to the Student Ambassador Program.
  • Provide teaching and instruction in the PA program, coordinating instruction for a minimum of 6 courses annually.
  • Assist with curriculum development and ongoing evaluation and improvement.
  • Perform student evaluations of clinical examinations and assignments.
  • Create examinations and map questions to accreditation standards.
  • Engage in service, community relations, and scholarly activities appropriate to the role.
  • Participate in faculty development opportunities each year.
  • Assist with clinical site development and monitoring.
  • Provide remedial instruction as needed.

Requirements

  • Terminal Degree as a Physician Assistant
  • Current NCCPA Certification and State Licensure as a PA
  • 1-2 years academic experience highly preferred
  • 2 years clinical experience required
  • Experience in PA/medical classroom teaching preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong interpersonal skills with student and staff populations
  • Superior organization, prioritization, and self-motivation skills
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office Suite, ExamSoft, and WebAdMIT

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in PA/medical classroom teaching preferred
