About the position
The Physician Assistant (PA) position at Carilion Family Medicine offers a regular part-time opportunity focused on providing comprehensive healthcare services. The role involves assessing patients' health status, performing physical examinations, and managing both acute and chronic health issues. PAs will also have the opportunity to precept students from partnering programs, emphasizing the importance of education and curiosity in the healthcare profession.
Responsibilities
- Identify patients' health status through health histories and physical examinations.
- Initiate screening and diagnostic procedures.
- Manage minor trauma and acute health problems.
- Provide health maintenance and clinical management for stable or chronically ill patients.
- Assess data reflective of the patient's status and age-specific needs.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program required.
- Clinical experience appropriate to specific practice/department preferred.
- Current Physician Assistant license (PA) required.
- DEA licensure required.
- AHA BLS-HCP certification required.
- Advanced life support certification preferred for those using a defibrillator.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in Family and Community Medicine for at least 1 year.
