About the position

The Brigham and Women's Primary Care Physician Assistant I is a licensed provider who is a key member of the Primary Care team. This role involves the assessment and management of various patient populations, including both medical and surgical cases. The Physician Assistant will primarily work in a remote capacity after an initial on-site training period, handling patient encounters that range from routine to emergent. Responsibilities include patient assessment, diagnosis, care planning, and follow-up on medical orders, all while ensuring effective communication with the healthcare team.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and manage various populations of patients, both medical and surgical.
  • Conduct diagnostic and therapeutic interventions and develop appropriate plans of care.
  • Resolve Patient Gateway messages in real time by providing clinical advice or offering virtual visits.
  • Place orders for testing, vaccines, referrals, or refills following established protocols.
  • Follow up on orders placed and ensure timely communication with the healthcare team.
  • Meet virtual visit/phone call/message metrics as set by Primary Care.
  • Be accessible after hours for urgent results of tests ordered.
  • Check Epic inbasket regularly and respond to time-sensitive information as needed.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Physician Assistant studies required.
  • Certified Physician Assistant (State License) upon hire required.
  • 5 years of experience as a physician assistant strongly preferred.
  • Fluency in Spanish required.
  • Experience with pediatric patients required.
  • Skilled in taking medical histories and assessing medical conditions.
