About the position
Liberty Healthcare Corporation is offering a moonlighting opportunity for Physician Assistants at the Dorothea Dix Psychiatric Center in Bangor, Maine. This role involves providing after-hours medical services to patients in a 51-bed psychiatric hospital, focusing on urgent care and limited psychiatric care during overnight and weekend shifts.
Responsibilities
- Remain on-grounds at the hospital for the entire duration of the shift
- Round on hospital units, seeing patients and consulting with nurses and unit staff
- Primarily provide urgent care and very limited psychiatric care to patients
- Admit new patients to the hospital, including conducting medical histories and physicals as well as basic mental status examinations
- Confer with on-call Psychiatrist and refer to the local ER as necessary
Requirements
- Active Maine Physician Assistant license
- Experience in a primary care, urgent care or ER setting is preferable
- Psychiatric / mental health experience is helpful but not required
