About the position

The Department of Family and Community Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a part-time Advanced Practice Provider, either a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner, to provide patient care services at the Strawberry Health Clinic. This role focuses on delivering advanced patient care in a clinical setting, particularly to diverse and underserved populations in the Greater Houston area. The position offers opportunities for academic involvement and collaboration within a prestigious institution.

Responsibilities

  • Performing pertinent history and physical exams of patients.
  • Administering treatment and care management accordingly.
  • Performing and evaluating diagnostic procedures and laboratory tests within the scope of practice.
  • Providing acute, preventive, and chronic medical care in continuity or same-day setting.
  • Following established protocols to manage specific patient problems/illnesses/care in collaboration with a supervising physician.
  • Billing visit incidents to provider services.
  • Providing constructive input on improving the delivery of services to the medical director and clinic manager.
  • Maintaining medical records using an electronic medical record.
  • Meeting or exceeding productivity targets and benchmarks established by the Department and College.
  • Providing self-direction with good organizational skills.
  • Communicating and working well within a collaborative team environment.
  • Adhering to Baylor College of Medicine and affiliates' policies and procedures.
  • Performing other tasks or special assignments as necessary to maintain proper operations and patient care.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Nursing for Nurse Practitioner or Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies for Physician Assistant.
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the State of Texas Board of Nursing for Nurse Practitioner.
  • Current Texas Licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APRN-NP) for Nurse Practitioner.
  • Current license as a Physician Assistant by the State of Texas Physician Assistant Board for Physician Assistant.
  • Specialty certification as required by department for both roles.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
