About the position

Our Orthopedic Sports Medicine clinical & surgical practice is seeking a full-time Physician Assistant to join our team and work alongside a well-respected surgeon. This position involves a variety of responsibilities, including conducting clinical orthopedic evaluations, examining and treating surgical candidates, and assisting in the operating room as a first assist for sports medicine procedures. The role also includes on-call phone duties and weekend rotations, although the call schedule is light. The Physician Assistant will provide commentary and information pertinent to patient care, implement physician directives, and assess patient health by interviewing patients and performing physical examinations, which includes obtaining, updating, and studying medical histories. In addition to these duties, the Physician Assistant will determine abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests such as X-rays, MRIs, and laboratory studies, and interpreting the results. Documentation of patient care services is essential, requiring the PA to chart in patient and department records. The role also involves performing therapeutic procedures, including administering injections, suturing, and managing wounds and infections. The Physician Assistant will contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results as needed, ensuring a collaborative and efficient work environment.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Graduate from a PA accredited physician assistant program.
  • State license to practice as a Physician Assistant.
  • BLS / ACLS certification required.
  • National Provider Identifier (NPI) is necessary.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Thoroughness in clinical skills and patient care.
  • Ability to work effectively in a medical team environment.
  • Strong bedside manner and infection control knowledge.
  • Experience in administering medication and performing joint injections/aspirations.
  • Skills in suturing and managing surgical incisions.
  • Knowledge in pain management and self-development.
