About the position

The Physician Assistant (PA-C) role at DispatchHealth involves providing high-quality, in-home medical care to patients in the Kansas City area. The position requires advanced practice providers with acute care experience to perform comprehensive health assessments, diagnose and treat illnesses, and facilitate care coordination. The role emphasizes a patient-centric approach, allowing providers to deliver definitive care in the home, supported by a mobile unit and a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a clinical care team with a DHMT to deliver care in the patient's home.
  • Perform comprehensive health assessments and diagnose complex illnesses.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions such as splinting, suturing, and wound care.
  • Document patient encounters accurately and thoroughly.
  • Analyze test data to ensure continuity of care for patients.
  • Educate patients and families on managing acute illnesses and health.
  • Navigate difficult conversations related to end-of-life issues.
  • Communicate effectively with all individuals involved in the patient's care.
  • Identify and proactively solve problems in patient care.
  • Adhere to clinical and safety standards and protocols.
  • Maintain positive relationships with DHMT partners and remote teams.
  • Attend training sessions and clinical team meetings.
  • Lead practice with a focus on patient welfare.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of experience as an Advanced Practice Provider in relevant fields such as Emergency Department, Urgent Care, or Internal Medicine.
  • Graduate with an advanced degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current unrestricted state license as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
  • Nationally board certified and current.
  • Current BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred.
  • Prescriptive authority and DEA registration.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work a varied schedule including evenings, holidays, and weekends.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience as a paramedic, RN (ED or ICU), Flight Nurse, or completion of an ENP program or fellowship for NPs, or EM/Hospitalist residency for PAs.
