About The Position

Join a team of 17 highly experienced Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), where you'll enjoy a high level of autonomy and the opportunity to become an expert in procedural skills within a dynamic academic research center. The position is for a Physician Assistant - Senior or Staff at UPMC Presbyterian, Shadyside, Magee, and Mercy. The working hours are Monday-Friday from 7:00am to 3:30pm in the Radiology - Abdominal/Interventional Radiology Divisions.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and/or interact appropriately with the patients served.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.
  • Possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age-specific needs.
  • Provide the care needs as described in the department policy and procedures.
  • A graduate of a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the physician assistant (ARC-PA) is required.
  • Current state PA license certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) is required.
  • Current CPR certification is required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience or completion of a post-graduate residency.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a physician assistant and/or experience in a clinical setting is preferred.
  • BS or MS candidate is preferred.
  • Completion of National Certification.
  • ACLS or ITLS or NALS or PALS certification must meet AHA standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform US/Fluoro/CT guided procedures.
  • Work in a procedural room (65% of the time), outpatient clinic (25% of the time), and inpatient clinic (10% of the time).
  • Conduct patient workups and clinical assessments.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality patient care.
  • Contribute to UPMC's mission of Life Changing Medicine.
  • Set the standards for the level and quality of care for the care delivery team.
  • Provide patient care activities for a group of patients and their families through the application of independent judgment, communication, and collaboration with all team members.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with physicians, other health care providers, patients, and their families.
