About the position

The Physician Assistant in Urgent Care at F.F. Thompson Hospital is responsible for providing clinical medicine services and applicable administrative services to patients in the urgent care setting. This role requires delivering consistent, high-quality care that aligns with accepted national and community standards. The Physician Assistant will collaborate with office staff to develop and implement efficient office practices, fostering a cohesive identity within the Thompson health system. Regulatory compliance is a critical aspect of this position, ensuring that all practices meet the necessary legal and ethical standards. The Physician Assistant will also engage in patient management and role modeling that aligns practice goals with the overarching goals of the health system, always acting in the best interest of the patient and assisting the health system in achieving its strategic objectives. In this role, the Physician Assistant must demonstrate recognized competence in outpatient clinical medicine, with the ability to assess patient data and interpret the necessary information to identify each patient's requirements based on their age-specific needs. Knowledge of best patient care practices is essential, as is the ability to maintain collaborative relationships with office staff, providers, and hospital leaders. The Physician Assistant will be expected to maintain current knowledge of evolving regulatory requirements and ensure compliance with these standards. Excellent communication skills are vital for effective provider-patient and provider-staff interactions, and the Physician Assistant must exhibit leadership skills and professional behavior consistently. Additionally, the role requires the generation of comprehensive and timely patient care records, ensuring that all documentation is legible and meaningful for various uses, including regulatory and billing purposes. The Physician Assistant is also responsible for keeping all professional licenses, registrations, liability insurance, and certifications up to date as required for employment.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Active NYS certification/registration as a Physician Assistant.
  • BLS and ACLS certification required; PALS recommended.
  • DEA license required.
  • Graduation from an ARC-PA approved school as a Physician Assistant.
  • Meets continuing education requirements of the applicable discipline board.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience as a Physician Assistant preferred, particularly in urgent care or emergency medicine.
  • Previous experience in primary care medicine preferred.

  • Competitive pay range of $62.00 - $70.00 based on experience.
