About the position
The Physician Assistant at Stonington Institute plays a crucial role in providing quality substance abuse treatment options for adults, particularly focusing on the needs of active duty and retired military service members. This position involves client evaluation, diagnostic assessment, medication management, and treatment under the supervision of the Chief Medical Officer. The role emphasizes collaboration with the Clinical Care Team to ensure positive health outcomes for clients, while also participating in quality improvement initiatives and departmental meetings.
Responsibilities
- Provides client evaluation, diagnostic assessment, medication management and treatment, and follow-up to clients under direction and supervision of Chief Medical Officer
- Participates in process and program quality improvement initiatives to improve care for clients
- Participates in client case conferences and departmental/organizational meetings, as directed
- Impacts client experience by demonstrating courteous and helpful behavior and a commitment to accuracy
- Completes client medical record documentation according to Stonington Institute's policies and procedures
- Shares accountability for overall client health outcomes by working in coordination with Clinical Care Team
Requirements
- Graduate degree from a Physician Assistant Program
- Current Connecticut Physician Assistant License
- Knowledge of mental health/substance abuse conditions and best practices for treatment
- Well-developed listening and interview skills to explore client needs and administer treatment plans
- Strong verbal communication skills to counsel and advise clients
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to develop effective treatment plans
- Coaching skills to help clients make positive changes
