About the position

The Associate Chief of Staff (ACOS) for Primary Care at the Cheyenne VA Medical Center is responsible for overseeing all aspects of primary care services, ensuring effective operations, quality of care, and patient satisfaction. This role involves collaboration with various departments to meet the needs of veteran patients and to fulfill residency training program mandates. The ACOS plays a key role in strategic planning, budget management, and resource allocation, while also engaging in patient care duties.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the operations of Primary Care clinics and ensure effective service delivery.
  • Collaborate with the Chief of Staff and other department heads to establish integrated goals for Primary Care.
  • Ensure compliance with residency training program mandates in coordination with program coordinators.
  • Direct budget and fiscal management for Primary Care services.
  • Participate in management discussions and policy-making for the medical center.
  • Develop community partnerships to enhance patient care resources.
  • Implement internal programs for staff training and performance management.
  • Monitor compliance with standards set by The Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies.
  • Engage in patient care duties aligned with clinical expertise.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens.
  • Degree of Doctor of Medicine or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Current, full, and unrestricted medical license in a U.S. state or territory.
  • Completion of residency training in an accredited core specialty program.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5 years of experience in Primary Care leadership roles.
  • Board Certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
  • Experience with Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) and Vet Express.
