About the position

The Associate Chief of Staff (Performance & Improvement) at the Phoenix VA Health Care System (PVAHCS) is responsible for leading the facility's performance and improvement programs. This role involves providing direction and operational management to enhance clinical performance, regulatory compliance, and overall service efficiency. The incumbent will play a key role in fostering a culture of high reliability and will be accountable for meeting clinical performance measures while collaborating with various stakeholders to identify strategic opportunities for improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in leadership meetings including CEB/MEB/QEB, Performance and Improvement Operations, and others as determined.
  • Meet all clinical performance measures and monitors related to performance and improvement such as EPRP, SAIL, and customer satisfaction.
  • Improve clinical service line efficiency by reducing cancellations, length of stay, and overtime.
  • Expand outpatient care by ensuring timely patient evaluations and optimal resource utilization.
  • Collaborate with Medical Center leadership to identify strategic opportunities and initiatives.
  • Serve on medical center, VISN, and VA national committees and workgroups related to performance issues and initiatives.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens.
  • Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree from an approved institution.
  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. state, territory, or commonwealth.
  • Completed residency training in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a leadership role within a healthcare setting.
  • Familiarity with performance improvement methodologies and tools.
  • Board certification in a relevant specialty.
