About the position

The Associate Chief of Staff (QSV) position at the Veterans Health Administration in San Francisco, CA, is a leadership role focused on overseeing quality, safety, and value initiatives within the healthcare system. Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Chief of Staff (COS) and Deputy Chief of Staff (DCOS) on quality, safety, and value (QSV) priorities in planning and program evaluation.
  • Oversee the implementation and tracking of innovative care delivery models to improve outpatient, inpatient, and transitional care.
  • Support the continuous improvement of clinical and professional advancement opportunities for staff.
  • Advise the COS on daily QSV operations across 21 clinical services.
  • Oversee the Integrated Ethics Unit to ensure quality healthcare standards are met.
  • Foster a hospitable and respectful professional climate that encourages staff engagement and innovation.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Degree of Doctor of Medicine or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Current, full, and unrestricted medical license in a U.S. state or territory.
  • Completion of residency training in an accredited core specialty program.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Internal medicine board certification is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2 or more years of leadership experience in an ambulatory care setting.
  • Experience in a health care system-wide quality, safety, and value leadership role.
  • Experience as a community-based Outpatient Clinic Medical Director or Director of Ambulatory Care Quality.
