About the position

The Cardiology Section at VA Boston Healthcare System (VABHS) in collaboration with the Cardiovascular Medicine Division of Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH) invites applications for a Heart Failure Cardiologist. The successful candidate will participate in heart failure care at VABHS with a focus on advanced heart failure and the new Mechanical Support and Heart Transplant Program in close collaboration with the Cardiovascular Division at BWH. In addition to clinical duties in cardiology and heart failure at VABHS, this position includes clinical activities on the heart failure and transplant services at BWH. The clinical activities include inpatient cardiology, advanced heart failure, mechanical circulatory support and heart transplant services, and outpatient ambulatory continuity care clinics. The position involves teaching and mentoring internal medicine residents, Cardiovascular Disease Fellows, and subspecialty Fellows in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology. The successful candidate should have a record of clinical expertise and innovation in cardiology including heart failure, health equity, quality of care, or similar areas. Academic appointment at Harvard Medical School (HMS) as Instructor, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor will be proposed commensurate with experience and accomplishments.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in heart failure care at VABHS.
  • Focus on advanced heart failure and the Mechanical Support and Heart Transplant Program.
  • Conduct clinical activities in inpatient cardiology, advanced heart failure, mechanical circulatory support, and heart transplant services.
  • Provide outpatient ambulatory continuity care clinics.
  • Teach and mentor internal medicine residents, Cardiovascular Disease Fellows, and subspecialty Fellows in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree.
  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States.
  • Completed residency training in an accredited core specialty training program.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Certification/eligibility in cardiovascular diseases and advanced heart failure.

Nice-to-haves

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible.
  • Track record of research in clinical or basic research, quality of care, or an equivalent academic area.
