About the position

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a dedicated financial analyst to join our Finance-Comp/Clinical Enterprise team. This position is pivotal in developing, analyzing, and conducting complex financial analyses to assess the viability of strategic and financial plans and programs independently. The successful candidate will integrate financial principles, theories, and concepts to create comprehensive reports and monitor results from program and project implementations. In this role, you will be responsible for developing projections to model the financial impact of various programs and projects, supporting customers in sustaining results from these implementations. You will investigate and analyze financial transactions and regulations, review monthly results, and budget variances to ensure financial integrity and compliance. Additionally, you will design, develop, and modify financial forecasting models and simulations, accumulating and analyzing data from established databases to inform decision-making. Your ability to present financial, statistical, and operational reports will be crucial, as you will analyze the budget impact of implemented programs and provide valuable input for financial projections. You will also be tasked with analyzing and reporting on the effects of proposed federal and state statutes and regulatory actions that may impact financial planning, as well as reviewing data to analyze trends affecting budget needs. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop projections to model the financial impact of programs and projects.
  • Investigate and analyze financial transactions and/or regulations in support of programs and projects.
  • Design, develop, and modify financial forecasting models and simulations for programs.
  • Accumulate and analyze data from existing or established databases.
  • Present financial, statistical, and operational reports.
  • Analyze budget impact of implemented programs/projects and provide input for financial projections.
  • Analyze and report on the effects of proposed federal and state statutes and regulatory actions which may impact financial planning.
  • Analyze future trends and indicators in related areas of interest.
  • Review data to analyze trends affecting budget needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • 4 years of relevant work experience in financial analysis or a related area.
  • Advanced knowledge of financial analysis principles and practices.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
  • Proficiency in data visualization and presentation tools such as Word, Excel, Tableau, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems and develop effective solutions.
