About the position

The Deputy Chief of Staff (COS) at the Oklahoma City VA Health Care System plays a crucial role in the management and leadership of the healthcare system. This position involves ensuring adherence to medical staff bylaws, supervising employees, and participating in strategic planning and policy implementation. The COS is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care while managing clinical performance and fostering relationships with academic affiliates.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a member of key healthcare system managerial bodies and the organized medical staff.
  • Supervise employees to accomplish the work of the organization, including assigning work and performing personnel management functions.
  • Participate in the Executive Leadership Team responsible for overall leadership, policy, planning, budget, operations, and performance.
  • Work with clinical and administrative service line leaders to set performance standards and formulate strategic plans.
  • Implement policy, perform ethical decision-making, and guide clinical performance improvement.
  • Coordinate and integrate programs to meet the needs of patients and providers by establishing policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to the strategic mission, vision, values, and goals of the Oklahoma City VA Health Care System.
  • Maintain direct patient care responsibilities within the area of clinical expertise.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens.
  • Degree of Doctor of Medicine or equivalent from an approved school.
  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. state or territory.
  • Completion of residency training in an accredited core specialty training program.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3 years of service line experience as a Deputy Service Chief/Assistant Service Chief/Service Chief with supervisory and leadership experience.
