About the position

The Deputy Chief of Staff at the Lexington VA Health Care System is a key member of the senior leadership team responsible for overseeing the medical staff and ensuring the delivery of quality medical services. This role involves strategic planning, organizational assessment, and program development, while demonstrating principles of servant leadership. The Deputy Chief of Staff acts on behalf of the Chief of Staff and plays a crucial role in integrating the medical staff with other professional disciplines to achieve patient-centered and organizational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Chief of Staff in establishing and maintaining standards of medical practice.
  • Act as the spokesperson for the organized medical staff.
  • Participate in strategic planning and organizational assessment.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for multiple programs and services.
  • Chair meetings of the organized medical staff and ensure adherence to bylaws.
  • Co-Chair the Medical Executive Board, Health Care Delivery Council, and Peer Review Committee.
  • Contribute to the definition of the Medical Center's vision, values, goals, and action plans.
  • Meet VA performance measures and clinic access goals.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Degree of Doctor of Medicine or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a U.S. state or territory.
  • Completion of residency training in an accredited core specialty program.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience as a prior or current Clinical Service Chief within VA.
