About the position

The Deputy Chief of Staff at the Fayetteville NC VA Coastal Healthcare System provides administrative, clinical, and programmatic leadership to ensure the achievement of clinical, research, and education goals. This role involves hands-on clinical work, oversight of services, and guidance for residents and trainees, while also acting as a key clinical resource for the Medical Center Director and Chief of Staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative, clinical, and programmatic leadership for the healthcare system.
  • Ensure achievement of clinical, research, and education goals.
  • Serve as a key clinical resource for the Medical Center Director and Chief of Staff.
  • Engage in hands-on clinical work and oversight of all service aspects.
  • Manage an extensive research program and provide guidance and training for residents and other trainees.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Leadership Team and service chiefs on strategic and business planning.
  • Facilitate improved patient outcomes and coordinate services to enhance cost-effectiveness.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens.
  • Degree of Doctor of Medicine or equivalent from an approved institution.
  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. state or territory.
  • Completion of residency training in an accredited core specialty program leading to board certification eligibility.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
