About the position
This position is for a locum tenens physician specializing in gastroenterology, focusing on procedures such as colonoscopy, liver biopsy, and upper GI endoscopy. The role requires working independently in a hospital setting with 24/7 hospitalist support, covering adult patients. The locum will have a flexible schedule and will be responsible for managing a daily patient load of approximately 10-15 patients.
Responsibilities
- Perform colonoscopy with and without biopsy.
- Conduct liver biopsies and manage Sengstaken-Blakemore tube insertions.
- Execute flexible and rigid sigmoidoscopy procedures.
- Carry out upper GI endoscopy with and without ERCP.
- Demonstrate competency in ERCP, with advanced skills in EUS/ERCP being a plus.
- Work independently with 24/7 hospitalist support, covering adult hospital patients.
Requirements
- Active Arizona medical license.
- Active Arizona DEA registration.
- Board certification in gastroenterology.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Current CV and three professional references.
- Experience in gastroenterology is preferred.
- Competency in ERCP is required; fellowship training is preferred but not mandatory.
