About the position

The Medical Director of Inpatient Behavioral Health (BH) services is a physician leader responsible for overseeing the hospital's inpatient and consult liaison services. This role involves ensuring quality care and safety in inpatient BH and CL clinical services, collaborating with various hospital departments, and supporting operational and administrative functions. The Medical Director will also engage in direct patient care while managing a team of psychiatrists and ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat psychiatric disorders, managing both acute and chronic conditions.
• Participate in patient education and promote wellness.
• Analyze reports and findings to inform treatment plans.
• Coordinate ancillary services and execute diagnostic tests as needed.
• Develop and maintain the inpatient adult psychiatry service for SCHS.
• Educate and counsel patients and families on health issues and preventive care.
• Document treatment effectiveness and patient responses.
• Support the development of medical policies and procedures for inpatient BH services.
• Improve quality, safety, and value of psychiatric inpatient care.
• Consult with and mentor attending psychiatrists and provide clinical supervision.
• Attend and contribute to various medical staff meetings and committees.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited medical school.
• Completion of an accredited residency program in Psychiatry.
• Board certification in Psychiatry.
• Oregon medical license as MD/DO.
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet driving requirements.
• Experience in hospital and outpatient practice environments in Psychiatry.
• Advanced written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Two or more years of inpatient adult psychiatry service experience.
• Experience with Epic EMR software.
