About the position

Groups is searching for a Physician to join our team for our new location in Slidell, Louisiana! This is a 1099 position offering $200 an hour, with a minimum of 5 hours weekly based on availability (Monday to Friday; evenings included). Groups delivers a proven, evidence-based model of Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), which is considered the gold standard for the treatment of opiate use disorder by the American Society for Addiction Medicine (ASAM) and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Association (SAMHSA). We empower our members to regain control of their lives through a combination of therapy and medication. As a Physician, you will play a crucial role in our treatment model, assisting in conducting intakes and monitoring patients' clinical progress during regular group counseling sessions. You will work alongside specialized counseling staff, answering questions and managing patients' medication dosing. This position allows you to focus exclusively on medical management, as we have developed a unique, technology-driven and team-based clinical system that handles all day-to-day patient management and regulatory compliance. You will be responsible for authorizing patients' prescriptions during monthly visits with patient panels and completing all notes and reporting in Groups EMR system within the required timeline. Providers will receive full orientation and training on Clinical Protocols before being eligible to begin work with Groups. Our strict protocols guide clinical decision-making, ensuring that you can provide the best care possible to our patients.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in conducting intakes for new patients.
  • Monitor patients' clinical progress at regular group counseling sessions.
  • Participate in group sessions by answering questions and managing patients' medication dosing.
  • Authorize patients' prescriptions during monthly visits with patient panels.
  • Complete all notes and reporting in Groups EMR system within required timelines.

Requirements

  • Practicing Louisiana Resident.
  • Active, Unencumbered State License (MD/DO) in Louisiana.
  • Active, Individual DEA with address listed in Louisiana.
  • DEAX designation or proof of 8 hours of Qualified Training as assigned by SAMHSA required.
  • Experience prescribing in the MAT/SUD space preferred; in-direct/relative experience considered.
  • Proof of Active Board Certification (MD or DO; any specialty).
