About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is seeking a BE/BC Hematology/Oncology physician to join an established Cancer Center & Research Program at Marshfield Medical Center – Eau Claire in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. The practice offers integrated clinics, regular provider meetings, physician advisory boards, tumor boards, and extensive research opportunities. The program includes a full oncology practice with an outpatient infusion center, inpatient capability, multidisciplinary tumor boards, and teaching opportunities. There is a strong research program with support for clinical trials and dedicated research staff. The position supports work/life balance and physicians are assisted by a team of APPs. Radiation Oncology, Pathology, and Radiology support are available onsite.

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. degree.
  • Successful completion of a hospital affiliated Internal Medicine residency program.
  • Completion of a Hematology or Oncology fellowship or integrated Hematology and Medical Oncology Program accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
  • Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable.
  • Applicants not board certified at the time of application but who have completed fellowship training within the last five years must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their fellowship training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement.
  • Demonstrate active involvement of inpatient services for at least 50 patients in the last 12 months.
  • Demonstrate active involvement in the care of 50 patients in clinical practice in the last 12 months (if quality profile is not available).

Nice To Haves

  • Training at residency and fellowship programs accredited by organizations other than ACGME, AOA, or Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada may be considered via the waiver of eligibility process.
  • Applicants who have just completed a fellowship can provide their fellowship log.
  • Applicants not applying directly out of fellowship shall provide a quality profile from hospital(s) where they currently have privileges showing clinical activity for the last 12 months, including numbers of procedures performed, morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications.

Responsibilities

  • Admit, evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide consultation to patients adolescence to adult with all types of cancer and other benign and malignant tumors.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards.
  • Engage in teaching opportunities.
  • Support clinical trials and research.
