About the position

The Physician (OB/GYN) position at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi, involves providing comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic medical care to a diverse patient population. The role encompasses both inpatient and outpatient services, addressing a wide range of cases from routine examinations to complex medical conditions. The physician will be responsible for prenatal and postnatal care, performing deliveries, and managing high-risk pregnancies, while also participating in military-specific healthcare requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient obstetric and gynecologic medical care.
  • Perform diagnostic and treatment procedures for a full range of cases, including routine and high-risk pregnancies.
  • Conduct prenatal and postnatal care and perform deliveries.
  • Prepare and review case histories and obtain data through patient interviews.
  • Examine patients and determine necessary radiologic and clinical laboratory tests.
  • Formulate plans and procedures for obstetrical and gynecological services.
  • Interpret test results and evaluate examination findings.
  • Interact with anesthesia and operating room staff to prepare patients for surgery.
  • Direct nurses in procedures for obstetric, preoperative, and postoperative care.
  • Treat diseases and injuries of the female reproductive system, including performing major surgical procedures.
  • Provide emergency treatment in cases of serious injury or illness and recommend hospitalizations and surgeries.
  • Make referrals to other treatment facilities and serve as a consultant to other professionals.
  • Participate in on-call and after-hours duties for emergency consultations and life support.
  • Ensure appropriate follow-up and documentation of all clinical and diagnostic procedures.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Board certified in obstetrics and gynecology.
  • Ability to perform a full range of obstetric and gynecologic procedures.
  • Experience in managing both routine and high-risk pregnancies.
  • Knowledge of military-specific healthcare requirements and documentation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in teaching or supervising medical students and residents.
  • Familiarity with military healthcare systems and protocols.
