About the position

The Physician at Prisma Health is responsible for delivering high-quality medical services to patients, focusing on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of various health conditions. This role emphasizes adherence to professional standards of care and participation in the broader mission of Prisma Health, including community outreach and educational activities.

Responsibilities

  • Engages in the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of disease, defects, or injuries and recommends or prescribes treatments.
  • Renders medical treatment consistent with accepted professional standards of care, regardless of patients' ability to pay.
  • Completes accurate, legible, and timely medical records for examinations and procedures.
  • Provides after-hours call coverage equally with other physicians unless otherwise agreed.
  • Complies with standards of accepted medical practice and regulations of managed care organizations.
  • Maintains continuing medical education to meet certification and licensing requirements.
  • Participates in non-revenue generating activities that advance the Vision and Mission of Prisma Health.
  • Responds to requests for proposals for managed care contracts.
  • Establishes quality assurance programs, utilization management programs, and patient education services.
  • Assists in obtaining and maintaining licenses, permits, and accreditation standards.

Requirements

  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
  • Current medical license to practice in the state of South Carolina.
  • Board certification in Family Medicine or Primary Care.
  • Strong knowledge of medical procedures and standards of care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a primary care setting.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record systems.
  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish.
