About the position

The Battle Creek VA Medical Center is seeking a Body Imaging & Musculoskeletal Radiologist to join the diagnostic radiology department. This position involves a combination of administrative, clinical, and educational responsibilities, primarily focused on interpreting various radiology studies and ensuring high-quality patient care across the Battle Creek and Wyoming, MI campuses.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret general radiology, body imaging (CT/MRI/US), dexa scans, and musculoskeletal radiology studies.
  • Review radiology requests for appropriateness and respond to consults timely.
  • Prescribe exam protocols, review image quality, and provide feedback to technical staff.
  • Obtain informed consent and coordinate clinical care.
  • Communicate urgent findings timely and document in the EHR.
  • Interact with patients to obtain relevant clinical history and physical exam findings.
  • Provide clinical oversight of medication administration, including contrast material.
  • Participate in quality assurance programs such as peer review and performance improvement.
  • Engage in teaching programs and clinical committees as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief of Service, Deputy Chief of Staff, or Chief of Staff.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens.
  • Degree of doctor of medicine or equivalent from an approved school.
  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a U.S. State or territory.
  • Completion of residency training in an accredited core specialty training program.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Nice-to-haves

  • Board certification in radiology is preferred.
  • Experience in a VA or similar healthcare setting.
