About the position

The Addiction Psychiatrist position at the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS) involves providing addiction and dual diagnosis treatment to Veterans with substance use and mental health disorders. The role includes participation in an integrated treatment team and teaching responsibilities for medical trainees. The position is based in an outpatient setting within a comprehensive healthcare facility that offers a range of services for Veterans.

Responsibilities

• Provide addiction and dual diagnosis treatment to Veterans in the outpatient setting.
• Participate in teaching and supervising Addiction Medicine Fellows, Psychiatry Residents, and Medical Students.
• Serve as a faculty member of the University of Arizona Addiction Medicine Fellowship.
• Provide cross-coverage with the outpatient Addiction Psychiatrist.
• Collaborate with an integrated team of healthcare professionals including Physicians, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Social Workers, Nurses, and Clinical Pharmacists.

Requirements

• United States Citizenship.
• Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree in medicine or osteopathic medicine from an approved school.
• Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
• Completed residency training in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Board Certified or Fellowship-trained Addiction Psychiatrist.
