About The Position

The Physician Support Associate I (PSA-I) at Jefferson Radiology plays a crucial role in coordinating physician workflows across all outpatient sites, ensuring efficient image reading and administrative support. This position is integral to maximizing radiologist productivity and maintaining high-quality patient care through effective communication and organization.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1+ years of medical office experience, preferably in radiology.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and radiology specialties is required.
  • Ability to handle multiple demands in a calm and efficient manner.
  • Strong customer service orientation and a pleasant, professional manner.
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Excel.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working directly with physician schedules or facilitating physician flow is preferred.
  • Other combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor work lists for exams performed in the Jefferson Radiology enterprise.
  • Assign STAT and subspecialty exams to appropriate Radiologist for timely reading.
  • Monitor exams to assign coverage during lunch breaks for the Radiologist.
  • Anticipate and ensure timely reading of STAT exams by the Radiologist.
  • Coordinate and work with other PSA's to assign subspecialty reads.
  • Review Radiologists' daily work schedule at the beginning of the work day.
  • Communicate and coordinate fluoroscopic exams, injection procedures, STATS, and meetings to avoid disruptions.
  • Proactively monitor scheduled and pending radiology exams to ensure appropriate physician coverage.
  • Work with the hospital scheduling team to schedule pending exams when appropriate coverage is available.
  • Update the Outlook calendar to reflect current physician coverage and skill sets.
  • Ensure quality assurance (QA) of all exams and provide necessary information for interpretation.
  • Solicit additional clinical information from clinical staff as needed.
  • Ensure all patient work sheets, requisitions, and prior exams are loaded into the information system.
  • Triages and coordinates phone calls for the Radiologists, ensuring efficiency and timeliness.
  • Batch communicate non-urgent tasks and messages to reduce interruptions during the shift.
  • Provide basic technical assistance to the Radiologists as needed.
  • Manage the 'Out of Service Level Agreement' (SLA) and the 'Unread' report.
  • Schedule and prepare consult reads and second reads as appropriate.
  • Act as an ambassador of Jefferson Radiology to hospital staff, management, physicians, and patients.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and good judgment while adhering to policies and procedures.
