About the position

The General Practitioner Physician at International SOS plays a crucial role within the medical team, responsible for the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients in various environments. This position requires a strong focus on patient care, collaboration with other medical staff, and adherence to clinical guidelines to ensure the best outcomes for patients.

Responsibilities

• Carry out evaluation of patients that are brought in for evaluation
• Liaise with other medical staff to ensure continuity of care
• Perform medical examinations to establish health status baseline
• Examine and diagnose patients for illness and injury
• Order, perform, interpret test results and analyze records and reports
• Ability to provide follow-up care for patients as needed
• Collect, record, and maintain patient health information
• Ensure that all medical records are accurately maintained
• Referral recommendations for patients to medical specialists when required
• Coordinate healthcare plan
• Provision of clinical reporting into International SOS Facility Medical Director
• Ensure best practice in line with clinical guidelines and SOPs
• Support the clinical excellence framework under direction from the Facility Medical Director
• Provide liaison with external agencies where required to promote chain of care continuity and professional referral/patient handover

Requirements

• Doctoral Degree in Medicine or Osteopathy
• Minimum of 1 year post qualification experience
• Licensed to practice in area of work
• MD/DO Board certified in Family Practice, Internal Medicine or Emergency Medicine
• BCLS and ACLS Certificate
• Must be able to read, write and speak English to effectively communicate

• Experience with the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of adult patients
• Cultural sensitivity and awareness with the willingness to work with a foreign national patient population
