Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate operations of Ambulatory Care, including emergency and routine treatment procedures.
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality, safety, and appropriateness of care.
  • Arrange and communicate provider availability during non-administrative hours.
  • Collaborate with the Designated Education Officer and residency program directors to ensure appropriate teaching programs.
  • Develop policies and procedures using national guidelines to ensure comprehensive services.
  • Coordinate resource use, including space, supplies, and staffing.
  • Provide formal orientation to new staff members on Ambulatory Care policies and procedures.
  • Promote quality improvement and utilization review in Ambulatory Care services.
  • Ensure adequate medical record documentation and encourage continuing medical education for staff.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens.
  • Degree of Doctor of Medicine or equivalent from an approved institution.
  • Current, full, and unrestricted medical license in a U.S. State or territory.
  • Completion of residency training in an accredited core specialty program.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in disaster medicine or advanced training in disaster or wilderness medicine.
  • Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification.
  • Board certification in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine.
  • Experience in critical care medicine.
