About the position
The Physics/Engineering Tutor position at Collin County Community College involves providing academic tutoring and assistance to individual students and small groups in the subject of physics. The role focuses on enhancing students' understanding of course material, improving their study skills, and maintaining accurate records of tutoring sessions while ensuring confidentiality in compliance with FERPA regulations.
Responsibilities
- Tutor and assist students in academic achievement by meeting with them individually or in small groups.
- Help clarify course material and provide suggestions to improve study skills.
- Assist students with course-related equipment and supplies.
- Maintain records of students tutored as required under department guidelines.
- Ensure confidentiality of student records in compliance with FERPA.
- Secure offices and files on a daily basis.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Master's degree including 18 graduate hours in discipline.
- One (1) year of related experience required.
- Knowledge of college-level courses.
- Knowledge of the English language.
- Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Publisher.
- Knowledge of department guidelines and record keeping.
- Knowledge of academic software and related instructional equipment.
- Strong organization and time management skills.
- Effective presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to create a positive tutoring and learning environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
