About The Position

The PICC Registered Nurse at Methodist Hospital Stone Oak is responsible for establishing reliable venous access for patients requiring peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC lines), particularly those with difficult venous access. This role involves collaboration with healthcare providers, advanced clinical skills, and educational responsibilities for staff regarding IV access.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited diploma, associates, or baccalaureate degree registered nursing program.
• Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas or Multi-State Compact License.
• Certified as a PICC RN through an accredited PICC line course.
• Minimum 3 years of critical care nursing experience with ICU nursing background.

Responsibilities

• Utilize assessment skills for venous access to establish intravenous access on patients with difficult venous access.
• Evaluate predictable and potential intravenous access needs in complex situations and place PICC lines as ordered by the physician.
• Identify advanced IV educational needs of staff and initiate, complete, and evaluate staff IV education activities.
• Assume accountability when using independent clinical judgment and established protocols.
