About the position
As a Picker/Packer at Walmart, you will play a critical role in the fulfillment process by accurately selecting and packing merchandise for shipping to customers or Walmart stores. This position requires attention to detail, efficiency, and a commitment to quality to ensure that orders are fulfilled accurately and promptly, contributing to Walmart's reputation for exceptional service and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Use handheld devices or picking lists to locate and select merchandise from designated storage locations within the warehouse.
- Navigate through aisles and storage racks to retrieve items efficiently, ensuring accuracy and completeness of each order.
- Verify product details, quantities, and quality before packing to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Pack merchandise securely and appropriately for shipping, using packaging materials such as boxes, bubble wrap, and packing peanuts.
- Label packages with shipping information, barcodes, and tracking numbers.
- Ensure that packages are sealed properly to prevent damage during transit.
- Inspect merchandise for any defects, damages, or discrepancies before packing, and report any issues to supervisors.
- Follow quality control procedures to maintain high standards of product quality and customer satisfaction.
- Update inventory records in the warehouse management system to reflect items picked and packed for shipment.
- Communicate any inventory discrepancies or shortages to supervisors for resolution.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries in the warehouse.
- Operate picking equipment and machinery safely and responsibly.
- Work collaboratively with other warehouse associates and team members to achieve daily picking and packing targets.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in warehouse operations, order picking, or packing is advantageous.
- Familiarity with handheld devices and warehouse management systems is desirable.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and maneuver bulky items using appropriate equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in picking and packing merchandise.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
