As a Registered Nurse in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Children's Health, you will play a vital role in providing critical care to children with complex medical needs. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure that each child receives the highest standard of care, tailored to their individual needs. Your responsibilities will include the management of various medical devices and interventions, such as chest tubes, feeding tubes, high flow oxygen, nasal cannulas, tracheostomies, ventilators, central lines, and IV medications. You will also be responsible for assessing and maintaining appropriate pain control in post-operative patients, ensuring their comfort and recovery. In this role, you will evaluate and revise the plan of care based on the evolving needs of your patients, providing comprehensive and individualized teaching to families based on their identified learning needs. Effective communication is essential, and you will be expected to communicate in an accurate and objective manner with both patients and their families, as well as with your colleagues.
