About the position

As a Registered Nurse in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Children's Health, you will play a vital role in providing critical care to children with complex medical needs. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure that each child receives the highest standard of care, tailored to their individual needs. Your responsibilities will include the management of various medical devices and interventions, such as chest tubes, feeding tubes, high flow oxygen, nasal cannulas, tracheostomies, ventilators, central lines, and IV medications. You will also be responsible for assessing and maintaining appropriate pain control in post-operative patients, ensuring their comfort and recovery. In this role, you will evaluate and revise the plan of care based on the evolving needs of your patients, providing comprehensive and individualized teaching to families based on their identified learning needs. Effective communication is essential, and you will be expected to communicate in an accurate and objective manner with both patients and their families, as well as with your colleagues. Your expertise and compassionate approach will help create a supportive environment for both patients and their families, contributing to an extraordinary patient and family experience. Responsibilities

  • Management of Chest Tubes, Feeding Tubes, High Flow Oxygen, Nasal Cannulas, Tracheostomies, Ventilators, Central Lines, IV Medications
  • Assessing and maintaining appropriate pain control in post-operative patients
  • Evaluates and revises the plan of care based on evolving needs
  • Provides comprehensive, individualized teaching based on identified learning needs of families
  • Communicates in an accurate, objective manner

Requirements

  • 2 years PICU experience REQUIRED
  • BSN required
  • Current license to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas Upon Hire Required
  • BLS certification approved by the American Heart Association Upon Hire Required
