About the position

The Spirit Wings & Spirit Direct Pilot Pathway programs provide a unique opportunity for aspiring pilots enrolled in select flight school or university programs to secure a direct pathway to the flight deck as a First Officer with Spirit Airlines. This program is designed to support cadets throughout their training journey, offering mentorship, guidance, and various training opportunities from experienced members of the Flight Operations team. Cadets will be equipped with a full Spirit Electronic Flight Bag (EFB), which includes early access to essential training materials that will prepare them for new hire training on the Airbus A320 series aircraft. Additionally, Spirit Airlines will provide subscriptions to Foreflight and Jeppesen Pro, ensuring that cadets have the necessary tools to succeed. As part of the program, cadets will have the chance to participate in a “Spirit Day” event at least once a year. This event includes presentations, training opportunities, and networking with Flight Operations leadership, further enhancing their professional development. The program has specific requirements for both Part 61 & 141 flight schools and university programs, including a minimum of 500 hours of total flight time, a Commercial Pilot Certificate, and a current FAA First Class Medical Certificate. Cadets must also possess a valid passport and the legal right to work in the United States. Upon successful completion of the program, cadets will be required to attend ATP/CTP and a Spirit Specific A320 Jet Transition course before being assigned a new hire class date. Responsibilities as a First Officer include ensuring a safe and pleasant experience for all passengers, assisting the captain in operating the aircraft in compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and company policies, and demonstrating a commitment to customer service.
