About the position

Executive Jet Management (EJM), a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Pilot in Command (PIC) for a Challenger 650 aircraft based in Manassas, VA (KHEF). This role is critical as the PIC holds final responsibility for ensuring that the aircraft is operated in a safe, compliant, and efficient manner. The position involves working in a two-pilot account supported by a Maintenance Technician, and the PIC must comply with all company and regulatory requirements while delivering an exceptional service experience to passengers. The PIC is tasked with ensuring the safe operation of flights, which includes overseeing crewing and trip assignments to ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements. The PIC is responsible for completing flight planning, performance, and weight and balance tasks for each assignment. Utilizing Threats, Plans, and Considerations (TPC) briefing methodology, the PIC leads required briefings and mitigates operational risks. The role also involves acting as the Grounds Security and In-Flight Security Coordinator as defined by company policy, completing all aircraft pre-flight tasks, and ensuring that the aircraft is mission capable. In addition to safety responsibilities, the PIC is expected to deliver an exceptional service experience. This includes providing quality service to owners and passengers, identifying opportunities to enhance the EJM service experience, and collaborating with fellow crew members and internal partners to ensure a consistent service experience. The PIC must also maintain proficiency and compliance with regulatory and company-required training and recency of experience, reporting any safety or non-compliance concerns through the appropriate channels.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures the safe operation of flight by complying with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Completes flight planning, performance, and weight and balance tasks for each assignment.
  • Utilizes Threats, Plans, and Considerations (TPC) briefing methodology to lead required briefings and mitigate operational risks.
  • Acts as the Grounds Security and In-Flight Security Coordinator as defined by company policy.
  • Completes all aircraft pre-flight tasks, including maintenance status checks, to ensure the aircraft is mission capable.
  • Records all aircraft discrepancies in accordance with company SOPs.
  • Monitors and accomplishes all aircraft ground servicing items (e.g., fueling, oil, oxygen) in accordance with SOPs.
  • Completes passenger briefings in accordance with company policy and regulation.
  • Delivers the highest level of customer service and meets any special needs of passengers.
  • Utilizes Crew Resource Management (CRM) and Threat and Error Management (TEM) to communicate with crew and support personnel during operations.
  • Provides quality service to owners and passengers while identifying opportunities to enhance the EJM service experience.
  • Regularly investigates and resolves service deviations and collaborates with crew members and internal partners to provide consistent service experience.
  • Maintains regulatory and company-required training and recency of experience.

Requirements

  • 4-6 years of experience in corporate/business aviation preferred.
  • FAA Type rating in applicable fleet is required.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Total flight time: 3500 hours.
  • Multi Engine Land (MEL): 1500 hours.
  • Pilot in Command: 2000 hours.
  • PIC MEL: 500 hours.
  • Instrument: 300 hours.
  • Jet: 500 hours.
