About the position

As a Pilot for Air Methods Kentucky, you will be responsible for operating aircraft in a safe and legal manner to transport medical crews and patients to receiving hospitals. This full-time position offers a unique opportunity to work in the air medical industry, ensuring safety and compliance with aviation regulations while providing essential services to the community. The role includes a commitment to work-life balance with a 7 days on/7 days off schedule, and a focus on maintaining high standards of safety and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Operates Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner.
  • Completes pre-flight checks to verify aircraft airworthiness.
  • Conducts a complete walk-around of the aircraft prior to and after each flight.
  • Maintains final authority regarding aircraft operations and safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment.
  • Ensures familiarity with all aircraft and medical systems of backup aircraft.
  • Completes required documentation accurately and timely.
  • Conducts detailed flight planning with little notice to exacting standards.
  • Participates in Air Methods meetings, activities, projects, and community outreach.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Valid Pilot License required.
  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
  • 2 to 5 years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2000 total flight hours with a minimum of 1500 flight hours in category.
  • 1000 hours PIC in category.
  • 500 hours of rotor wing turbine experience.
  • 200 hours of cross-country flight time, with at least 50 hours at night.
  • 100 hours unaided night as PIC (50 hours can be substituted by NVG time).
  • 50 hours total actual or hood instrument time in flight and in category.
  • First or Second Class FAA Medical certificate required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience in VFR operations.
