About the position

As a Helicopter Pilot for Air Methods, you will operate aircraft in a safe and legal manner, ensuring the safety of passengers and cargo while providing air medical transport services. This role involves a 14/14 schedule with 12-hour shifts, allowing for a balanced work-life environment. You will be responsible for pre-flight checks, flight planning, and maintaining familiarity with aircraft systems, while also participating in community outreach and company meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Operates Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner.
  • Completes pre-flight checks to verify aircraft airworthiness.
  • Conducts a complete walk-around of the aircraft before and after each flight.
  • Maintains final authority regarding aircraft operations and safety of passengers and cargo.
  • Ensures familiarity with aircraft and medical systems of backup aircraft.
  • Completes required documentation accurately.
  • Conducts detailed flight planning with little notice.
  • Participates in Air Methods meetings, activities, and community outreach.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
  • 2 to 5 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 2,000 total flight hours with a minimum of 1,500 flight hours in category.
  • 1,000 hours PIC in category.
  • 500 hours of rotor wing turbine time.
  • 200 hours of cross-country flight time, with at least 50 hours at night.
  • 100 hours unaided night as PIC.
  • 50 hours total actual or hood instrument time in flight and in category.
  • Commercial & Instrument Rating for category and class of aircraft.
  • ATP rating in category required.
  • First or Second Class FAA Medical certificate required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the air medical transport industry.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to maintain positive relationships with colleagues and EMS representatives.
