About the position

PIM is looking for a talented and enthusiastic Project Manager, preferably with miscellaneous metals and/or structural steel, to join our team at our Woodland WA Facility. Your role will be responsible for providing overall project management for structural and / or miscellaneous steel fabrication projects by establishing project objectives, providing a management plan, and working as a liaison with contractors and/or other subcontractors and vendors. Project Manager: Organize, schedule, and administer contract fabrication through continuous, effective communication with our customers, subcontractors, suppliers, vendors, and other Precision Industrial Manufacturing personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains thorough and complete understanding of project estimates and budgets.
  • Reviews the contract documents and specifications and alerts the appropriate company personnel of any unusual or questionable terms, conditions, or requirements.
  • Organizes pre-production meetings when required prior to the beginning of detailing.
  • Develops sequencing and determines the requested delivery dates for each through personal contact with the customer and erector, upon receipt of an order.
  • Compiles accurate budgets related to the estimates of tonnage, buyouts, detailing and shop hours for each established sequence.
  • Possesses and drives excellent communication with DWS production and engineering personnel, and the customer.
  • Establish and maintain throughout the projects life, a realistic project schedule in the company's information system(s).
  • Ensures necessary paperwork and/or electronic documents for all subcontracted work and buyouts are procured.
  • Ensures contract modifications and production changes reflect any / all changes that occur in relation to the original budget.
  • Provides weekly, monthly, and final project billings ensuring that they reach the customer by the deadline established in the contract.
  • Visits job sites as required to maintain accurate project schedules and coordinate any steel related design issues with other trades and customers.
  • Maintains accurate project files including documentation of all pertinent conversations, agreements and change orders.
  • Actively possesses effective negotiation skills for price change orders with customers and maintains current accounts and receivables.
  • Maintains contact and develops beneficial business relationships with customers.
  • Participates in educational and business functions arranged by construction related industry groups and associations.

Requirements

  • Excellent ability to read and interpret structural and architectural design drawings.
  • Excellent customer service skills including communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Superior math skills.
  • Ability to manage one's time and to handle multiple projects simultaneously to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to produce organized, systematic, and thorough estimates.
  • Good knowledge of general construction practices, sequences, and techniques as well as shop fabrication processes and methods.
  • Proficient with all Microsoft Office Products and Bluebeam. Including Word, Excel, and Project.
  • Ability to learn Tekla Power-Fab steel management system.
  • Must possess a strong, positive, can-do attitude and work habits that fit into a team environment.
  • At least 5 years of related experience.
  • Extensive and related work experience leading to a thorough understanding of the knowledge, skills, and abilities described above.
